What do I need to connect MCP Connector?
Sign up for FormDesigner, create an OAuth application with the forms scope, and add the MCP server URL to your AI client. See the MCP setup guides and the OAuth application guide.
Which AI clients are supported?
Claude.ai, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, and other clients with MCP or custom connector support.
How is the AI assistant different from MCP Connector?
The AI assistant is a built-in tool in your FormDesigner account. MCP Connector connects FormDesigner to external AI clients (Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT) via OAuth.
What is the MCP server URL?
Use https://mcp.formdesigner.pro/v1/mcp. The legacy path /mcp returns 404 — update Cursor, Claude.ai, and scripts to /v1/mcp.
Request to /v1/mcp returns 401
Check your OAuth token or X-Client-Id / X-Client-Secret headers. Without credentials the server returns 401 with WWW-Authenticate and a discovery link.
Which OAuth scopes are required?
The forms scope is required for MCP. Optionally add account and entries for extended operations.
When should I use OAuth vs client credentials?
OAuth (authorization code + PKCE) — for Claude.ai and Claude Code without secrets in config. Client credentials (X-Client-Id / X-Client-Secret headers) — for Cursor, scripts, and automation. Enable useClientCredentials in the OAuth application for header auth.
How long are MCP sessions stored?
Temporary MCP sessions are stored for no more than 1 hour.
How to revoke access?
Delete the OAuth application in your account profile or disable the connector in your AI client.
How is MCP different from REST API?
MCP is a protocol for AI assistants with ~100 tools and built-in guides. REST API is for backend integrations with OpenAPI. See the tools and resources reference.
What is FormSchema?
A tool to create or update an entire form from JSON in a single call — convenient for AI agents building forms from scratch.
How many tools are available?
About 100 tools: forms, fields, submissions, themes, logic, flow, languages, integration modules, and more.
Where can I see the full list of tools?
The public catalog is at https://formdesigner.pro/mcp/tools — all MCP tools and resources with descriptions.
What data can MCP access?
Only forms and submissions in your account, within the OAuth scopes you granted. Details are in the privacy policy (MCP Connector section).
Can I use one OAuth app for several AI clients?
Yes. Create one OAuth application and add all required redirect URIs (Claude.ai, loopback for Claude Code, etc.) separated by commas.
MCP connector disconnects or times out — what to check?
Confirm the URL ends with /v1/mcp, credentials are valid, and the forms scope is enabled. Sessions expire after 1 hour — reconnect the client. For Cursor, verify X-Client-Id and X-Client-Secret headers.
